onder if you could clarify a couple of things for me. i followed the instructions in empowerism to set up the capture pages using the goldmine email series. the instructions say to use rapid reply 6 month trial and to download the messages from Johan@rapidreply.com
is that correct as I sent an email to that address and got a reply from yahoo to say it does not exist. then when I checked rapid reply it says that you cant copy messages with a free account. from what I see here you are recommending email aces above rapid reply so why not change this on the empowerism website because having double opt in as well there is no point in using our empowerism leads with rapid reply. Please advise as I have found this confusing

Hi Rose,

I think Johan changed his address from rapidreply to e-mail aces.

We had an incident where RR went down and we had zero support from them for a week.

This is when we went with e-mail aces which has an option to turn off the opt-in letter.

I'll check to see what the e-mail for Johan was for e-mail aces.

Hi Rose,

There isn't an e-mail for this but the instructions are in this "Auto-responder & Leads" thread.

At the very top Author is "Johan".

Subject line shows " * How to use your Leads & Build a list of Subscribers! *"

I agree that the website should be updated since we haven't used RR after the problems we had.

I'm sure Johan or Cheryl will after reading this thread.

Thanks for the information.

Michael

Hi Rose,

You're right and I'll update those files on Tuesday and include the email aces option.

Hi I thought you were going to have the lead capture pages corrected to reflect email aces autoresponder not the old rapid reply. It makes it very difficult to use these pages that you advertise on the home page if they are not functional or easily able to be used. Hope you can do it soon as I am waiting on that so I can proceed to advertise and use my email aces account which I have already wasted my first months cost. thanks

Hi Rose,

Johan said he was going to change the instructions on how to use e-mail aces instead of RR.

I don't know where the information is.

I would try to help but I can't find it in the member center.

When Johan comes in maybe he can shed some light on the situation.

Take care,

Michael

Hi!

I downloaded the LCP zip files (13 Nov 07) and they STILL refer to Rapidreply. In my ignorance, I set up a "Nearly Free" account with RR for a subscription of $3 a month and made one payment. I have heard NOTHING from RR. No validation emails and no response to my emails.

I know it's only $3 and I've now cancelled the subscription but Empowerism MUST change the notes attached to these LCPs ASAP or others will suffer the same fate.

Over to you Johan....

Following on from my earlier post, if anyone wants a free autoresponder that DOES work (I use it currently) go to
http://freeautobot.com/cgi-bin/autores/autores.cgi
(no affiliates so I'm not going to benefit:-)))

There is a bit of advertising in each email sent but its not too obtrusive and some of the ads on the site can get a bit annoying!

There is code for a sign up form which you just have to amend with your username and a "landing page" url. You can also add leads manually. All will get an opt in email which you cannot disable.

Its pretty simple but good for those new to LCPs and want to try it first before investing in something like EmailAces or TrafficWave.

If anyone wants to try it and needs help, just reply to this post.

Thank you Colin for pointing this out and hopefully Johan will be able to make the necessary changes.

I had a freeautoobot account and from what I remember it had to be manually loaded. Has this changed?

Hi Cheryl

Freeautobot do provide code for a form to capture name & email address but there is no import function. You can then use the name in emails. They rather cleverly extract the firstname from the full name entry.

I suspect most of the main autoresponders will consider removing their import facilities sometime soon.

Most now seem to insist on double opt-in procedures for all additions to your list, even imports.

Aloha Colin,

I've used Freeautobot in the past.
Manual input was a pain but when funds were short, that's the only way I could send my letter series to my leads.

Importing will be a thing of the past really soon.

Double opt-ins make it almost impossible to contact with the leads.

E-mail advertising is going extinct. List building is the way to go.

Take care,

Michael

Hi Michael

I have now set up an account with EmailAces and so far I'm quite impressed. They do (currently!) allow you to import leads without a double opt-in email.

I agree that list building is one of the more effective marketing methods we have but building the list is a business in itself.

I still think using purchased leads to populate your list is a valid method to get the ball rolling. In fact I'm working with Derek Bohlken and he is a great exponent of purchased leads.

Using the double opt-in will filter your list down to those who are genuine prospects rather than "suspects". OK, so you buy thousands of leads and only a few dozen may opt-in but at least they will be real prospects and then it's up to you to make the investment worthwhile.

I'm in the UK so emailing is really the only way I have to communicate with the sort of numbers I need to build my business. Off line marketing over here is still in its infancy and since almost all opportunities are paid in US$, there is some resistance as Brits don't always appreciate how easy it is to work in other currencies. It's easy to explain (Paypal, Moneybookers etc) but its just another hurdle to overcome.

Therefore I have to take an international approach and the USA is still by far the biggest market. I'd love to come over and see you all but for the time being, you can just expect the odd email!

Smile

Thank you Colin Smile

I was sure that freeautobot was manual but I thought it might have changed.

Spam Laws and Double opt ins have made it hard but I agree it is still a very good way to communicate.
